Role overview:

We are looking for a Director of Market Development who will help lead our expansion into Medicaid. You will partner with our President to develop our approach to selling to managed care plans and to lead implementation of Pelago’s operational plans in these new markets.

As the first hire in this space, if you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into the nitty-gritty of Medicaid to help millions of people get the treatment they need, you might just be the person we need.

This is a hybrid role with expectations that you will work out of our NYC office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

In this role, you will...

  • Supporting building and selling the business case to payers
  • Communicating and collaborating with various stakeholders to align and mobilize teams on the most critical objectives and opportunities
  • Helping build and drive processes that measure, achieve, and communicate outcomes to key stakeholders
  • Ensuring the seamless execution of Pelago's operational and strategic plan in new markets
  • Getting into the details at an operational level, including being “on the ground” in our markets and supporting on-site teams
  • Developing state-level partnerships and referral pathways with community partners
  • Hiring on-site teams that support local enrollment
  • Managing and tracking performance to OKRs in close collaboration with any state directors

The background we're looking for...

  • 6+ years of experience in a high-growth startup environment, business operations, or management consulting
  • Medicaid experience required
  • Proven track record of leading complex cross-functional initiatives from start to finish
  • Communication and Mobilizing Teams: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, especially in working collaboratively with senior leadership
  • Excellent analytical skills and expertise in leveraging data to uncover insights and drive decisions
  • Previous people management experience

The provided range reflects our US target salary range for this full-time position, which is part of our broader total compensation package, including stock options, comprehensive benefits, and incentive pay applicable to eligible roles. Individual pay within the range will vary based on a variety of factors like role-related experience and education, internal pay equity, and other relevant business factors. At Pelago, we are committed to an equitable and fair pay philosophy and review total compensation for our employees at least twice a year.
