Job Summary:
We are seeking a Lead Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to serve as a clinical leader for psychiatric services at FamilyWell, guiding a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional, patient-centered mental health care across the perinatal and menopause spectrum. This role blends direct clinical practice with strategic leadership—overseeing psychiatric consultants, ensuring seamless integration of behavioral health into OB/GYN care, and driving continuous improvement in patient outcomes. The Lead PMHNP is both a trusted advisor to providers and a hands-on clinician, setting the standard for evidence-based treatment, collaborative care, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
The Lead Perinatal Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) oversees FamilyWell’s psychiatric consultant team and partners closely with our collaborative care network—including OB/GYN providers, patients, care managers, therapists, and coaches—to ensure exceptional, evidence-based mental health support.
- Clinical Leadership & Collaboration – Provide regular psychiatric consultations on an assigned patient caseload, advising OB/GYN providers on medication and treatment strategies or seeing patients directly for medication management during pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause.
- Direct Patient Care – Conduct psychiatric evaluations and telehealth medication management visits for short-term treatment of mental health conditions in the perinatal or menopause periods. Offer recommendations for patients who may require higher-acuity or specialized care.
- Pre-Conception Support – Deliver medication consultations and psychoeducation for individuals planning pregnancy while on psychotropic medications.
- Case Review & Asynchronous Consultation – Review clinical information and medical records prepared by the care team, focusing on patients who are new to the caseload or not progressing under their current treatment plan. Provide clear, actionable next-step recommendations.
- Documentation & Timeliness – Complete all case consultation and patient visit documentation within 24 hours.
- Population Health Management – Partner with care managers to monitor caseload status, using FamilyWell’s registry to track patients, identify priorities, and guide treatment adjustments.
- Education & Mentorship – Equip care teams with training and resources to effectively diagnose and manage behavioral health conditions.
- Team Development – Onboard and mentor new psychiatric team members to maintain high-quality, consistent care.
- Operational Oversight – Ensure psychiatric appointment capacity aligns with patient demand.
Requirements:
- Licensure & Credentials – Active psychiatric nurse practitioner license and current DEA registration in at least one of the following states: MA, CT, NH, TX, IL. Ability to practice autonomously in state of licensure, without direct supervision.
- Leadership Experience – proven leadership or supervisory experience within clinical environments.
- Collaborative Mindset – Proven ability to work seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team, fostering mutual respect and shared decision-making.
- Exceptional Communicator – Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and compassionately.
- Professional Demeanor – Positive, adaptable, and solutions-oriented approach in dynamic clinical environments.
- Clinical Expertise – Skilled in rapidly synthesizing medical and psychiatric information to develop clear, evidence-based treatment recommendations.
- Mission-Driven – Deep commitment to improving access to high-quality mental health care, particularly for underserved or vulnerable populations.
- Specialized Interest – Experience or strong interest in perinatal and menopause mental health, and in practicing within a collaborative care framework.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in startup or digital health settings, particularly with telehealth and virtual care delivery models
- Expertise in clinical education, training, and fostering high-performing teams
- Proficiency in measurement-based care and tracking clinical outcomes to drive quality improvements
- Strong commitment to evidence-based practices and ongoing professional development
