About Elera
Elera is building the infrastructure layer for specialty care access.
Roughly 60% of patients referred to a specialist never get seen. We're fixing that on both sides of the problem. On the patient side, our AI coordinates the full referral journey: scheduling, insurance verification, prior authorization, and loop closure back to the referring provider. On the specialist side, we're building the operating system independent specialists need to get in-network and run a modern practice, so more providers are available to meet demand.
Together, our solutions form a two-sided network that uses AI to close the gap between referral and care. The result is better patient experiences and health outcomes.
Our founding team pairs deep experience investing in health tech with engineering expertise from Meta and we just raised a $2.5M pre-seed led by GreyMatter.
About the Role
We are looking for a Full Stack Founding Engineer to help develop our provider/patient facing web applications and our referral coordination engine in close collaboration with our founding team.
You will have significant autonomy and work across the entire stack from the product experience down to the infrastructure and DevX. As an early hire, you will also be a key participant in future hiring decisions, help us define our engineering culture, make critical decisions about our tech stack, and help us decide what to build and why.
We have a number of challenging technical and business problems to solve that will require a creative and persistent engineer to own:
- Referrals are a highly complex workflow that require our AI agents to navigate multiple third party interactions while keeping patient data safe and creating a good experience for both patients and providers.
- The goal of our platform is to enable providers to spend 90+% of their time on care. This means solving a wide range of complex problems in healthcare including scribing, coding, billing, and more, each of which could be (and is) its own startup.
- We rely on AI interfaces to reduce the provider's operational burden. Building platforms to enable safe, correct, and effective automation of provider tasks will make or break our product.
- And many more…
What We're Looking For
- You think architecturally, and have designed and owned production systems end-to-end
- You have a track record of thinking deeply about product and design and you take pride in shipping high quality experiences to customers
- You sit somewhere between being an AI luddite and a slop cannon when it comes to writing code. You should be meaningfully faster than without it, but not deferential.
- You have an opinion on what a great engineering team looks like and you are excited to be a part of building one
- The usual founding stage expectations apply; you must work from business problem to technical solution with minimal direction, you prioritize ruthlessly, you must be good at learning quickly and failing fast, and you're excited to wear many hats
Nice to Have
- You have experience in healthcare technology
- You have developed and integrated effective AI workflows into products
Logistics
~4 days/week in office in SF Downtown. We are flexible and understanding day to day, but the strongest teams we've been a part of formed their bonds working in person together.
Compensation
$185k–$215k + 0.5–2% Equity. We are happy to negotiate a salary/equity balance that suits you.
Our Stack
90% of our web stack is in TypeScript, and we use Postgres for our DB. Strong prior work in full stack web development is important.
