We are looking for the Director of Accounting to join our team to support the next phase of our growth. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Fully own the accounting function, including all operational, project accounting, financial reporting, and tax responsibilities at both the operating and technical levels
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Prepare and present timely financial reports in accordance with GAAP, including monthly financial statements, budget versus actual variance reports
  • Manage all accruals & accounting estimation processes by working closely across the team and organization
  • Manage tax compliance and financial audits, collaborating with external advisors and auditors
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
  • Manage external accounting consultant(s) until insourcing of all day-to-day accounting operations
  • Work with Blackbird’s revenue cycle management team to optimize cash collections and maintain accurate revenue recognition
  • Owns oversight over insurance, risk management, and vendor management
  • Assist the VP of Finance in the preparation of the annual budget and monthly forecasts
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly/quarterly executive and board meeting materials
  • Provide strategic financial insights to support the organization's growth and success
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvements
  • Lead special accounting and finance projects as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or master’s degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience across public accounting and/or high-growth startups
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with QuickBooks and other accounting software platforms

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL:

  • Healthcare industry knowledge preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations
  • Intermediate to advanced technical skills in MS Excel and experience with Google Sheets
  • Ability to extract and present meaningful information out of large data sets
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with patients, provider partners, and colleagues
  • Flexibility to adjust to a dynamic work environment

*The target range for this position is $110,000 - $140,000. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors, including licensure, experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
